Girl! We Can Do Better!

So here we are in the month of August, which is shocking! It seems like a good time to review my goals and plans for the year and see where I am. Truth be told, I have no idea where or what my 2022 goals are. The only thing I am sure of is that I have not achieved them.

I’d also like to think I’m not alone on the island. I’d also like to think we all have a Wilson to keep us company. Honestly, I’m not sure I want to look for the list of goals I think I wrote. I have either done well, been a complete slacker, or I am the world’s most okay-est person.

How do we go forward, get back on track, or even start? Well, let me google that for you. According to the interwebs, checking in with yourself and your goals is a good idea.  A make an appointment with yourself and put it in your calendar type of thing. Now, how often you check in is up to you, weekly, monthly, quarterly, or at the half-year mark. During your check-in, you should ask yourself questions like this:

Am I where I want to be?

If yes, great! Then ask, how can I level that up?

If not, why not? Is there something I can do about that?

Is there something I need to learn to get to the next level? Do I need to work on myself? Personal development is a thing. Self-awareness is a skill.

Am I who I want to be? Again personal development. Writing this post is part of my personal development. Where do I see myself at the end of the year? How do I want to start the coming year? Am I gonna take the leap and put up a shingle? Or am I gonna stay at my Steady Betty a bit longer and put more work in then leap later? There are no right or wrong questions or answers, and you can reevaluate. Change your mind or make a course correction.

Even if you don’t have any goals written down or, like me, you can’t find the list; it is never too late to start. Plan what you want to accomplish in the last few months of the year. It can be a personal, professional, or financial goal. A rough sketch counts because as the times change, so do we; that’s why pencils have erasers.

And as I do, if you need a little help figuring things out, here is what I suggest. Invest in yourself, and by that, I mean personal growth. It could be as easy as picking up a book.  Here is what I recommend. I have provided Amazon links for convenience. You can pick up the books at your local bookseller or public library as well.

  1. I wrote some goals down in the beginning of the year, some I was able to smash by God’s grace and some I’m far from it 😆 even in denial, it’s all good. I’ll be hopeful and strategize for the remainder of the year. Thanks for the recommendations, I have the atomic habit but I haven’t read it yet. Maybe this is the motivation I need to open that book!!!!!!!
